We are still here, away from the others

MY POST PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION ANNIVERSARY ENTRY

We Filipinos are crying out for help. We cry because were hungry. We are hungry because we don't have money to buy food. Money is earned if we have jobs. We were given jobs but we are so lazy to go to work. We want the government to give us food. We are so complacent. We are happy living under the roof of our shanties beside the smelly Pasig River that we keep on polluting everyday. We blame the government because we are so poor. But in reality, we are definitely satisfied with what we have. Approximately each woman has 10 children in 6 years, all malnourished.

The beautification of Metro Manila started when the Mayor started his term years ago. Beautiful city lights, colorful ceramic streets displays, and post lights were installed in the Philippines favorite city. After a few weeks we throw stones to break the light post at night when no one is looking around, we climb the post and steal the light bulb and sell it to anybody who needs it in exchange of 1gram of cocaine. We won't stop each night until the city went dark again. Then we blame the government because it’s dark in our city.

The government's housing project was already finished. It was already granted to us, people. This project’s main objective is to decrease the # of homeless families and protect them from danger. However, after 1 month of acting as if we really want to live on that area (Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, etc) and start anew, we are already planning to sell the house and go back to the depressed squatters area in the city to squat again. We keep on coming back. Then we blame the government again. It’s like an addiction. I wonder when are we planning to stand up and move on? Then we say we are still homeless, still in a 3rd world country, and still hungry. Isn’t that what we want? Maybe it's not the government's fault, nor your neighbor who fooled you and stole your money, or that rich man who's land you invaded until now. Maybe we should start looking deep inside ourselves and maybe we can discover something good.

We actually have a choice, a choice to be the best and to stand up for the betterment of our children’s future. But look at us, Filipinos. We are still here, away from the others. Let's move on. Forward. Hopeful.
Let's not care about what the politician is doing. they're all crazy anyway. Let's not be afraid of success. Let's love peace. Magkaisa!
